Crystal Clear Water

Crystal Rock is a seamount in open water, covered by soft corals, that becomes exposed at low tide making the tip of the pinnacle visible from the surface. This site has very clear water with crystal clear visibility, hence the name of it. This great visibility will allow to easily spot all the diverse life in the blue. After descending with the current, you will find this stunning rock formation and is then when the action begins, you will see some grey reefs sharks, white tip and black tips sharks. The rock and walls are encrusted with barrel sponges and an array of colorful soft corals and large fans, making this, a very eye catching dive. You will also encounter schools of bat fish, giant trevallies, schools of tuna, eagle rays, snappers, huge schools of fusiliers, napoleon wrasse, angel fish, parrotfish, thousands of anthias, schools of yellow-ribbon sweetlips, butterflyfish, moray eels, damselfish, triggerfish, pufferfish mackerel, surgeonfish, crocodile fish, grouper, and also barracudas are often hunting around. Sometimes you can even spot dolphins in Crystal Rock, so keep your eyes wide open!

Blueface Angelfish

One of the Best site for Macro

Although currents can be pretty strong, you can drift around to the protected lee, in the shade of the big rock, where you can find some shelter from the currents. Here you will see some beautiful coral gardens, rich in fan corals with tiny pigmy seahorses hiding, together with some octopuses, numerous interesting nudibranchs, small crabs and shrimps. Crystal Rock is a great macro dive compared to Komodo’s other dive sites.

Risbecia Pulchella

Crystal Rock can be dove more than once

Crystal Rock is a fine example of how Komodo truly represents diving diversity, with a topography just as exciting as the rich marine life. You will find it all, from the predators to the tiniest of creatures. Is the perfect combination of diving with action and spotting macro in the protected area. It is famous for the exciting currents and the big marine life they attract. More reasons that make this exceptional site a very popular Komodo diving site and why some divers think is worth doing it twice. You can dive Cystal Rock all year around, being April to November the best months. The average water temperature ranges from 23C to 28C. The maximum depth is 30 meters, but the average dive depth is around 22 meters.
